This 197-hectare site is managed by Development Victoria, a Victorian Government corporation. Development Victoria is tasked with property development and urban renewal that creates social and economic benefit to the Victorian community.
Aligned vision, strategy, execution and delivery
Development Victoria creates diverse and strategic property development that utilises public land to create homes, communities, and cultural and recreational facilities.
For this project, their in-house development team required advice on, and management of, the town centre and commercial precincts.
Our services were particularly necessary due to the multiple sites, commercialisation aspects and governance requirements. Urban Neighbourhoods was engaged to:
provide management advice and support
expand knowledge within the team, sharing our development expertise and knowledge to make better decisions faster
assist upstream and downstream management in the timing and decision-making process.
Team and system development
Urban Neighbourhoods also managed project workshops functions and managed navigating for the technical, architectural and planning teams. For future stages we developed and created new systems processes for handover to the internal development team, thus ensuring their knowledge capture and systems design were retained in-house.
Development Management services
The project health of the Riverwalk Werribee development required a fast-paced development program.
The location of the site required consideration of existing residences, the locations of future infrastructure such as bike paths, and the preservation of the heritage-listed former Werribee Satellite Aerodrome.
Our task was to work with the management team to support the 2,600 residential homes with retail, commercial, employment and education precincts as well as community spaces.
Better Decisions Faster
Urban Neighbourhoods worked with Development Victoria’s teams to navigate and share our knowledge and expertise. We also conducted strategic control meetings to manage and align upstream and downstream communications.
This approach meant that everyone working on the development – teams or management – was aligned with the vision and strategy of the development. Decisions were based on knowledge and experience, so were better and faster, resulting in the project outcomes and returns being handled quickly, efficiently and exactly as planned.
In addition, the teams developed knowledge and experience, providing a strong foundation for future development projects.
